Above is an illustration of the new £3.5 million rebuild of All Saints (Upton) C of E Primary School.
This is part of the Labour Government's investment in schools. Over £1 million is being provided from the council. Since 1997 all schools in Halton had received real term revenue increases of over 60%
from the former Labour government.

The Hough Green ward is one of 21 electoral wards across Widnes & Runcorn which make up the Borough of Halton.The ward has a voting population of around 5,400 and a resident population of approximately 7,000 people. Three Labour councillors represent the ward, Phil is one of them. All three councillors grew up in Hough Green.
The ward is situated in the North West of Widnes and was developed as a residential area from the 1960's. Aside from some infill sites the last major housing was built in the 1980's. The ward is a mix of privately owned housing and social housing.
The ward boundary to the south and east includes a Mersey Forest site, playing fields and the Liverpool to Manchester railway line. Greenbelt and open countryside form the boundary to the west and north of the ward.
In addition to All Saints Upton Primary School, the ward is served by St Basil's RC Primary School within the ward boundaries.
The High School provision consists of a mix of schools. Aside from a small number as in any community who may go outside the town's school provision, the vast majority attend schools in the town. The schools attended by most of Hough Green's students are; The Bankfield School; St Peter & Paul High School & Wade Deacon.
The nearest high school is which is within easy walking distance of homes in the ward, on Liverpool Rd.
Phil has been a governor of Bankfield for over 10 years. Bankfield is rated by OFSTED as an 'Outstanding' rated school. For further

Hough Green is one of four railway stations in Halton. It is a Grade II listed building. Although the station is outside the metropolitan county of Merseyside, tickets issued by Merseytravel (which usually can only be used within Merseyside) are valid for travel to and from Hough Green.
Hough Green station is served by frequent local and longer distance services operated by Northern Rail and London Midland (formally Central Trains).
