The scale of private links between David Cameron and News International has been exposed, with the Prime Minister shown to have met Rupert Murdoch's executives on no fewer than 26 occasions in just over a year since he entered Downing Street.
Rebekah Brooks, who resigned on Friday 15th July as chief executive of Mr Murdoch's Wapping titles, is the only person Mr Cameron has invited twice to Chequers, a privilege not extended even to the most senior members of his Cabinet.

Contrary to some views that young people don't get enough exercise, Halton's young people have a good record that has improved yet again.
Halton’s children areamoung the most physically active across the north west and above the average for England, according to the NHS health profiles published recently. To view the results yourself
They are also more active than all the neighbouring Merseyside authorities such as St Helens, Sefton,Liverpool, Wirral and Knowsley. Halton's children are also doing better than more wealthier Warrington and rugby league rival areas Wigan and Leigh.
The results show high levels of physical activity with a higher percentage than average for England of pupils engaged in at least three hours/week of school sport.
There has been a steady improvement in sports activity which may now be threatened by short-term cuts imposed by the new government.
Cllr. Phil Harris, Executive Board Member for Sport said: “This is great news for the health of the borough. Patterns of physical activity and participation in sport, are a vital building block for good health in later life”
“Sadly school sport co-ordination was hit by the new Tory-run coalition government amongst the many cuts they made in the last year.''
Young people in Halton can take part in sport and leisure activities at various venues across Widnes and Runcorn, including a wide range of voluntary sports clubs who the council work in partnership with.
Sport England says Halton Borough Council has moved from being in the bottom quarter of English local authorities for sport involvement into the top 20.
An NHS survey released in the same week showed that the borough’s children are the most physically active in the Merseyside area.
More than 27% of adults are now taking part in 30 minutes of moderate intensity sport or active recreation three days a week, up 7.3% from 2005 when it was just over 20%.
The council claims a range of initiatives it launched over past years, including investment in sport and leisure facilities, and free access schemes, have brought about the change.
Cllr Phil Harris (sport) said: “The council has focused considerable investment in sports and leisure facilities and assistance to local sports groups over the past decade.''
“These results for adult participation in sport are welcome evidence that spending is helping to make a difference.”
Sadly, the improvements to Kingsway leisure centre swimming facilities were cancelled after the new Coalition Government cut a lottery grant promised by the previous Labour government.
The Tory-run coalition government has also put on notice other sports related funding for areas like Halton - despite the obvious contribution sport makes to improving health for all age groups in areas with major health concerns.
